I probably listen the Beatles more than anyone on this forum. In fact this week it's been hard for me to listen to anything other than Beatles. I love their music and listen to their music so much that I realize what they really were. They didn't create or innovate anything. Other bands were already ahead of the curve. The Beatles got credit for things they didn't do. Their lyrics were average-to-garbage but their music sounded great.

They got popular with great marketing and horrible music (pre-Rubber Soul). Then when they started making quality music everyone thought it was a big deal.

The Beatles are great and I give them credit for bringing underground music to the masses but other bands were much better.

Marketing=success. This generation proves it.
the few hundred copies of VU & Nico bought by people, those people started bands

just by word of mouth and propagation by its fans, VU is considered a seminal influence

it's hardly anything to do with "marketing"

lots of 80s synth-pop were marketed like mad, yet failed to achieve any results, mainly cos they were crap

the Beatles were hardly "crap"

The bottom line is this: If you stamp the Beatles name on the debut album of the Velvet Underground that album would be considered the greatest album of all time.

The name of the topic is "The British Invasion! NEED HELP!!!" not "Bob Dylan and Frank Zappa vs The Beatles: Was it just marketing?". As an example, it made sense. But you've kept this argument going, flip flopping, for 8 pages. Which probably makes you a clever, yet annoying, troll.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

I only keep replying. I could ask why you keep replying to me. In fact to me you sound like a troll since even an elementary kid could understand my point.

Let.Me.Spell.It.Out.For.You.

If Bob Dilen marketid like beatle he be as famus as beatles. derefore british invasion overshadowed dem dat be better cause company want to market cheesy musik instead of the dilen musik.

But, excluding the Rolling Stones, and The Beatles, Bob Dylan is probably more popular than every British Invasion band. Which makes your point completely idiotic. You can mock me all you like, or you can read into the fact EVERY OTHER ****ING PERSON has pointed out the ridiculous flaws in your 'point'.

Next, you'll probably complain about Radiohead's status as a super underground band that will never break into the mainstream because of Lady Gaga.

Don't get so emotional. You're the one who called me a troll. Bob Dylan should have been more famous than the Stone or Beatles. That's all.
