MuteMath's "Odd Soul"

Super energetic, synth-heavy indie rock. Really distinctive percussion. It's not the best drumming I've ever heard, but it's good, and the beat always stands out in the mix. I was recommended the band by an acquaintance. Pretty good stuff.

Gungor's "Ghosts Upon The Earth"

I literally couldn't put a genre to this if I wanted to. I can definitely point out parts of songs that are something akin to classical, jazz, country, folk, bluegrass, or ethereal piano-heavy pop music... but then Michael Gungor comes out of nowhere and throws in electronics, or a drum machine, or an instrument that just doesn't belong for whatever genre he's decided to play and throws all preconceived notions out the window. The lyrics are intelligent, and full of things taken out of the Bible. Lyrical subjects include Biblical themes, vague allegories that could be taken several different ways, sex. I've been playing this album a WHOLE lot lately. Highly suggest it.
