As for best Punk album. London Calling. If you disregard all subgenres and focus on pure Punk. For sure.As for first wave Punk albums, I'd say The Clash had the best debut too. I think The Slits, The Adverts and The Banshees deserve a mention though, they haven't been brought up much. Cut is a classic.

Its because bands like Siouxsie & the Banshees normally get included under the post-punk category, at times its a very gray area between punk and post-punk.
I tend to think punk bands of the late 1970s (pre-hardcore era) fell into three areas.
Punk- As the name suggests, straight-up punk.
Punk/New Wave- More melodic bands that straddled this line, Buzzcocks are a good example.
Punk/Post-Punk- Bands expanding out of the basic creative confines of punk, whilst still retaining a punky feel.
