It isn't progressive, my opinion is that it's simplistic, two seperate statements. Stay with me now bud. SOAD definitely isn't prog at all. They have a lot of dynamics in every song, but that's the only element of prog they have. They've had it on every album, and it's still not prog. The drumming, guitar playing, and everything else is not intricate in the least. Tool, Porcupine Tree, Isis, Mastodon, all have both irregular time signatures/shifting dynamics as well as intricate playing.
This is the truth, no two ways about it.
