It doesn't take much to see the difference from shifting dynamics and intricate playing. If that's the case, a lot of hardcore/crossover/metalcore bands are progressive. I guess you could think that it's intricate, and subjectively be right about anything. However, this is like calling Godsmack grunge because they copy 90% of what they do from Alice In Chains. Actually, Godsmack is closer to grunge than SOAD is to prog.
