I thought it was great! Excellent characters, beautiful filmmaking, and such an interesting mood. The dreaminess punctuated by extreme violence felt very unique to me and the tone of the movie reminded me of very little else that I've seen.
Play Misty for Me (1971)
Also a great movie. I had been meaning to see it forever and was not disappointed. In addition to being creepy and perfectly paced, it had some great local details that really made me miss living in California, including one scene in a restaurant in Monterey where I've actually eaten before.

You only just caught Drive? Stunning film and I bought it 2 days after renting it I was that impressed and the soundtrack is killer too. Have you seen any other Winding Refn films?
