I think the first Soulfly album sounds a lot like the next step Sepultura could have taken after
Roots. I agree that Sepultura is the better band but I really can't understand how you don't see the similarity between the two when they featured the same vocals and guitar as each other and were playing the same type of music. It not like Max Calavera went off and became a jazz pianist after Sepultura or something.
