That explains why you've missed the point of the album completely. It wasn't about any of those things that you've put above. It was about making an accessible metal album with melody for mass public appeal, with tunes that Joe Public could relate to. The heaviness was still there satisfy their fanbase and melody to attract a legion of new fans. to So an album based around technicality, speed and blistering solos etc was out the window as far as the band were concerned. For that reason they got Bob Rock in to produce the album as well. If a band wants to achieve mass market appeal then huge compromises of their base sound usually have to be made.
