I don't think the comments are wrong though, Gerrard, as technically brilliant he was at his peak, was also superior mentally. Do you think he'd have shat himself in the Anfield tunnel like Vieira did at Highbury? Liverpool wouldn't have won the CL in '05 and FA Cup in '06 were it not for Gerrard's leadership skills. His passing, both long and short, are absolutely brilliant and always have been, he was brilliant for England at the Euros too, if you look at all the tournaments England have bottled it in, Gerrard is usually the one who has played well. He was more of a goal threat going forward and better defensively. Better set pieces, better shooting, better crossing, his all round game was better than Vieira's, I don't see how anyone can say otherwise.

Giggs as I've already said was the quintessential winger. There are no left sided wingers in the PL who were better than an early 90's Giggs, including Pires.
