Thankfully, there was no mention of Kulashaker (ambitious, but pretentious) or even Northern Uproar (2'nd rate Dad Rock performed by teens). Some other points in the original post are very arguable (Third Eye Blind?), and I can understand the "why?" position of placing Cast in the same sentence as Ride, but I feel that at least Cast are not that bad.

Actually, as a survivor of the Mid 90's in the US, I can at least understand the mention of Cast (with John Power of The La's, to those wondering...). Compared to the Post-Grunge, Grunge-Lite, and Pop Cheese that littered the Popular Music scene in The States, listening to Cast was a relief to some. From what I remember, their singles were not that bad. Not that I'm a mega-listener of Cast, but there was seriously a lot worse. "Alright" is still a good listen and a pretty uplifting song.
