Eyedea's death certainly played a part in the theme of the album, the song "Michael" recants his feelings when he was there when the body was found, but the name is actually for his father, who passed away just as he was finishing up his debut album
The Balancing Act. As to their similarities, they definitely both share a passion for including literary allusions in their work, and the respect and admiration Cody felt towards Michael really illustrates that both men were on similar wave lengths. I would say if you like one you would like the other, but it may be worth starting with
Flowers For My Father and then working backwards from the
The Art of Dying EP and
The Balancing Act
