Eyedea's death certainly played a part in the theme of the album, the song "Michael" recants his feelings when he was there when the body was found, but the name is actually for his father, who passed away just as he was finishing up his debut album The Balancing Act. As to their similarities, they definitely both share a passion for including literary allusions in their work, and the respect and admiration Cody felt towards Michael really illustrates that both men were on similar wave lengths. I would say if you like one you would like the other, but it may be worth starting with Flowers For My Father and then working backwards from the The Art of Dying EP and The Balancing Act

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push The Sky Away (2013)

I can't remember the last time three albums I was anticipating were all released on the same day (the other is You're Nothing by Iceage)

Great album with very catchy songs, actually I liked it almost as much as Toys in the Attic, which is a little overrated in my opinion.

The Algorithm - Polymorphic Code.
Absolutely stunning. Imagine The Mars Volta met a geeky computer programmer who introduced them to a Dubstep producer who passed them on to a Dance music producer who just happened to like Flying Lotus and he then decided to throw all this into an all knowing computer programme and spit the whole lot out for us all to enjoy only for Meshuggah to remix it all.

Despite all this it is surprisingly easy on the ear yet smart enough to explore and reveal more layers. Brilliant.

Foals do a mixtape of some of their fave tunes and this moves from minimal Techno to AfroJazz to Indie and House music with consummate ease. A fantastic mix and it has introduced me to a whole raft of artists.

Bought:

One of the finest 3rd wave Ska albums out there and still stands up well after 20 years. Had to buy this on import but worth every damn penny. Such a great track:

Criminally overlooked UK band. Sort of Muse meets Porcupine Tree but they don't sound like any of those bands. Big riffs with big atmosphere.

No explanation needed.

Bought lots more but can't be bothered to list them!

Sounds like I could either love or hate this. I'll investigate. I can tell you that I love the album artwork, though.

Atoms for Peace - AMOK (2013)
Second listen through streaming, haven't downloaded or purchased yet. I'm definitely liking it though.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Parallax - Atlas Sound

Interesting art record. Wouldn't expect anything different from Brian Cox

How To Destroy Angels - Welcome Oblivion
Streaming at Pitchfork here

Wasn't too into their ep's but this album is rocking my world. Hard to pick highlights off an album full of awesomeness but The wake up, strings and attractors, and How Long all really get me going.

Listening to the bonus discs off of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon - Experience Edition. The live disc is surprisingly good, and the CD with outtakes and demos is interesting.

The Charlatans - Us & Us Only- actually a VERY good record and ample proof that this "INDIE-ROCK" band have continually evolved since their first album Some Friendly.
