I could certainly see that happening. There are times when i grow embarassed for an act i'm listening to. Often times it comes across forced and unnecessary. I like the feral sound of most black metal, but the vocals can be a game changer at times. I'm sure the extensive use can blowout vocalists voices also which causes them to move onto other forms of singing.
