I didn't say that they were only marketed towards kids, and I can guarantee that a bunch of kids couldn't go because of their parents. I'd also be willing to bet that most in attendance had been listening to Tool since they were about 15.
It goes beyond Opiate, Undertow, etc. They just have an aggressive sound, and the band is openly involved in anti-establishment causes. All of Aenima, all of Lateralus, all of 10,000 Days is very aggressive for the most part, and you can even put your own personal spin on what you think the lyrics are about.
I don't think they're aimed specifically at teens, and that's why I still listen to them still. I can't say that about every band I used to listen to 8 years ago
