And does that mean you were born in 1986, 1988, or 1991? 25 years ago was 1988, should they have released AJFA before they retired?

Your "hatred" for Metallica is uninspired and played out. So many bands went on to make a ton of **** music, and who cares? It doesn't change anything about what they've accomplished. Music isn't about averages.

Maybe they stopped making metal albums, but even if they had stayed the same, Metal changed because of them, but also it changed on them. If Ride the Lightning dropped into today's market, no metal fan would like it. Early thrash, like early rock and early rap are the music of aficionados and nerds.

Metallica needs to be left to their own devices. They should make the music they want to make and whether folks like you enjoy it or not, well, no ones forcing you to buy it. But we've seen what happens when they try to do music they don't want. They aren't 20-something any more, they aren't as angry as they were, let it go.

Metallica doesn't suck. They play and write better than most bands going, they just don't make music that they used to. No band does because its not a math formula, its about emotions. And if you feel the same at 40 as you did at 20 there is something wrong.

But this isn't about Metallica really, its about a group of people who were born after they "started sucking" and are asking for a band to do what they did before those asking were alive. Its a weird fetishism that defies logic. You never knew this band to be good, yet you invest so much emotional effort into tearing them down. why?

Because at the end of the day, attacking Metallica is less about music and more about the symbolism or the whole exercise. Its about going after supposed sell-outs who turned their back on what you assume to be a personal ideology. Well if you want my two cents, you ought to let go.

Metal has a oneupsmanship problem. Everyone is always trying to be more metal. And this is how we get this ridiculous Metallica bashing that we see here. In an effort to see who has a bigger dick, we're going to attack a dead horse for bragging rights.

Say what you will about the band, it will always say more about you.
You make some good points, but at the end of the day Metallica still sucks.

James can't sing, and you're absolutely right, they've become less a heavy metal band (and more of a rock band, really). I won't disagree with you, because honestly you're just saying the same thing I am, but being nice about it and emphasizing that we shouldn't beat a dead horse.
