That's not surprising really, when a band leaves its roots to go onto become one of the biggest bands in the world, the knives normally come out from dedicated fans for that type of music claiming they were not that great anyway.
Personally I think Metallica were one of the very best thrash bands and I wouldn't even call myself much of a Metallica fan either.

They are, but they haven't been playing anything good for a while. I don't like blues rock that much, I hear it every day on the classic rock stations by bands that sound way better doing it.
I'm not going to get into this argument again, because it's always the same ****. Let Metallica do what they want, they're just trying to do something different, you heard what it sounded like when they tried to go back to a thrashier sound on Death Magnetic and it wasn't that good, etc.
Metallica is definitely a good band though.
