Personally I wouldn't mind. I loved being a female character in Saint's Row, but I can certainly imagine in a game more concerned with a realistic storyline that it would be distracting to see a female character in the role of a violent mobster for many people.

I put up an example that matches your silly example they are both meaningless.
Who says that she even has to be a violent mobster though? They could take it in a completely different direction or just make her an assassin. There are violent spies and assassins that are female.
I just don't get why people feel like it's just a super stretch and also why does it have to be based off of being "realistic or convincing" when it's a fictional character!!
