Oasis' limitations as musicians and songwriters became all too apparent. They tried to sound like the Beatles but they simply didn't have the instrumental or vocal chops to come close to the brilliance of the Beatles.
As far Noel Gallagher's song writing skills went, he only wrote 5 or 6 songs that come close in comparison to Lennon/McCartney. And most of those songs are only good because they reminded everybody of the Beatles.
