I've just stumbled upon you music blog and I must say I am very impressed. I've just spent the better part of the last hour filtering through it. You've made my night and I've just decided to give credit where credit is due :)

Why don't you have more people on your friends list? For the love of god you write mountains for this site every day. Anyway yeah, some recognition. Good call on that John Cale cover of Hallelujah by the way, just as good as Leonard Cohen's.

I came across info you have posted about Uhuru. Here are some of the facts you need to know,1st lead singer for Uhuru, who also came up w/name is Garth Dennis.1st line up,Simspon,Carlos and Dennis. Dennis is also an original Wailing Souls.Although Simpson won the court case, he not had any effect on the reggae scene without any of writers and singers of great music,Rose,Reid,Carlos&Garth Dennis.Although you gravitate to the Rose and Puma era. Some may say the most popular, the fact the 4 albums Uhuru had on Mesa were the most financially successful time for the line-up involve,4 Grammy nominations. Island label pays no royalties, none. The music Simpsons produced with new lead singer Andrew B,Is the only Uhuru album that was never nominated for a Grammy or really recognized on any international level. Simpson has the name of the group he has not had any attention with any music?Last info in the Jamaican star in 2004 he was doing the lead singing, still no music on air?

I donated my father's musical memorbilia to the Washington University Archive of Popular Culture after he died a few years back. I kept a few of my favorite concert posters. Most of my father's concert posters were of the standard made-to-order printshop graphic design variety really don't qualify as the sort of artistic artifacts that many of the Family Dog or Fillmore Ballroom posters were.

Oddly enough my father never used contracts and did all of his business on a handshake and that was good enough for all of the musicians he worked with. I'm quite familar with Grushkin's Art of Rock book and still take it off the shelf and browse through the amazing art on it's pages every now and then.

    Hi Gavin,
You mention that your father used to book shows. I am currently working on a book of concert posters with author Paul Grushkin (Art of Rock). Did your father keep any onld concert posters, handbills, musicians business cards or signed contracts?
