Apologies for the act of necromancy. But I think it is important to recognize that neither group accomplished what they did on their own. Most of these totem pole albums you are all barking at could never have been possible if the "geniuses" had to do the work themselves.
And before you say that it would not be possible.. Many artists have proven the ability to write/compose, produce, record, mix, and master their work as a pure solo project. Hell, I do that myself. It is very possible and both The Beatles and Beach Boys just did not have the time if they had wanted to try it in their 1960s heydays without sacrificing other components of their careers and lifestyles.
