The Monkees was a fun TV show and they had some really good tunes and Mike had a solid post Monkees career.Yet, The Byrds are one of the great musical outfits of all time.In my mind they are just behind The Beatles and Beach Boys as some of the important building blocks in the popular music canon. They did not sell like other bands but their imprint is deep and long reaching.
