He didn't leak prior singles like Beyonce did to test the success of the singles.

When those two singles her team leaked over the summer received negative feedback, Her team came up with the idea to copy David Bowie and release everything all at once with flashy videos. The PR tactic was you had to buy the album before you actually listened to it lol

I have no idea what you're trying to say here but if you're implying that Bowie released nothing before The Next Day came out you'd be wrong.

Where Are We Now? was released in December 2012 & The Stars (Are Out Tonight) was released in Feburary 2013 as singles before The Next Day was released in March 2013.
