I had this discussion with realtalk in the past but it seems like people tend to gloss over it and skip ahead to the time where hip hop was more socially conscious and forget about the true origins. Hip hop started out as party music point blank! Nowadays people are hating on the same party/club music that hip hop was created from because they want more socially conscious material that actually came later on. Guess what there are rappers still putting out that type of music. They just aren't at the forefront. The period of time when that style of hip hop was at the forefront wasn't even a long stretch of time.
