49. Lync - Remembering the Fireballs (Part 8) [1997]

I mean, they do have a studio album that came out in 1994, but I like this one more, it's got pretty much all of my favorites from them. It's a compilation of singles and unreleased tracks. Lync were only around for 2 years and made one album before calling it quits. If you don't know about them, then calling yourself an indie expert is just nonsense. Bands such as the Promise Ring and Modest Mouse were highly influenced by this. 2 of these guys toured as band members with Built to Spill, and one of them formed a new band with the drummer for MM. They made lo-fi, dynamic, soft-yet-hard, twinkly, cathartic post hardcore, and now everyone's doing it. We owe a lot to this band.
