I'm with Jans in essence, though I do generally know which years albums come out. 1991 might stick out to a lot of people because there were quite a few critically acclaimed albums released that year, which were also hugely popular. But it's certainly no better than 1992 in my experience.

If you want to look at it from a cultural/canon perspective, there is definite merit in what you say James. 2010 would certainly be one of those years. But to me personally (purely out of coincidence) I prefer every year that has followed it in terms of my own listening history.
