I guess exciting was the wrong word, interesting would be a better placeholder. You can show how meaningless war is while still creating a film that is interesting to watch beyond battle sequences (that part is good, I agree).
Another unpopular opinion: 1408 is Steven King's best work. The short story, not the film.
