I think it still falls under the large spectrum of punk.
It just annoys me when people go ''This isn't metal!'' Yeah duh, it's not a Metal sub genre.
What's weird though is that there's no real different term from traditional hardcore punk and modern hardcore punk.
The only difference in name is that people usually refer to the latter as just ''hardcore'', but that's confusing as ****.
A lot of modern equivalents are very different from their traditional counterparts though.
