It's still their signature sound, but it's much more tighter musically, as well as cutting down on their angsty teen sound from their first two records.
I feel like most people jumped off the LP train a long time ago when they started changing, so the only memory they have of their music is rooted in their angsty stuff from over a decade ago, not knowing they sound so different in comparison these days. Their new stuff is honestly on par with most alt rock bands these days, but they're sort of cursed in the sense that everyone remembers them because of "In The End" and "Crawling."

The problem with your train of thought or logic here, is how they sort of already made Guilty All The Same before The Hunting Party, back when they put out Minutes To Midnight with their song No More Sorrow. There are similarities, and honestly No More Sorrow is a more realized song, it sounds complete where Guilty All The Same sort of goes all over the place and doesn't really sound focused to me. Even with In The End, that song is a more focused sounding song, despite whatever musical maturity was lacking back when they recorded Hybrid Theory. Guilty All The Same came off as an attempt to play music they're not exactly capable of playing that well, the song was ok and I did like it at one point, but it just drags on. Sometimes a band maturing doesn't always mean that the music they release will be more focused, sometimes what a band is attempting to do, can't be realized so the result comes out a mess, and I think that happened with Guilty All The Same.
The Hunting Party was a decent album, but I'd favor Minutes To Midnight over it, a more cohesive album. As a fan of the band, I'm not about what they used to sound like, I'm more about hearing them evolve as their career goes on. I think a band that sounds one certain way all throughout their career is a band that creatively, is crippled. It doesn't mean their music is bad, not really, because I listen to bands that have changed very little or not at all, yet they put out music I can still listen to, even if I get bored. Anyway...
Linkin Park has matured, I agree there. But picking apart their recent album, I still find a band that needs to maybe focus on areas that aren't their strengths so future albums where they experiment in areas they usually don't due to unfamiliarity, the resulting album won't sound so...unrealized or lost.
Get what I'm getting at?
