Well I don't know about the socio economic background of black metal musicians from Norway, but I imagine it's not as bad as the ghettos of America.

Black metal is also more ideologically based than gangster rap, (meaning that anyone can subscribe to the theology of Satanism, or whatever neo pagan gods they're singing about) while gangster rap requires one to grow up in a specific socio economic background to experience the gangland life.

I suppose Post Malone could move to the inner city of Detroit to gain his street cred....but I'm really not sure how long he would last lol.

I'm aware of that, he was part of the inner city bussing program where blacks were shuttled into nice white suburban high schools. Still point taken. Ice Cube and Dr Dre would definitely be described as studio gangsters.
