Oi!

Early Crass and Chumbawamba were decent. I liked them a lot.
A little too political for my tastes now but...

The Exploited, Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69, Angelic Upstarts, Etc.

The whole 'punk ethos' of doing yr own thing and esp DIY culture (in music, art, fashion, etc) is totally in line with counterculture/bohemian movements through the history of civilization. Even if they did give it a dystopian / dyspeptic spin. I love the line: 'So punk Im not even punk anymore.' Describes many old punks I know. Doing their own thing, regardless.

Of course, like all counter cultures, it got 'bought out' and marketed. Even faster than usual because it took place sorta right before the internet and the quickening of 'global' mass market culture. Oh well, there was always more to it than hair dye and piercings, some people remember that. most don't. C'est la vie. people are fckn stupid, in general. What do we expect?
