I might get lynched for this, but I never thought the FF games had all that great storylines. Suikoden 1 and 2 are two JRPG's I'd much rather see turned into a TV series. Maybe I'm remembering them a little too charitably, but I think they had more grounded stories than FF7, which I also played around that time.
I've been playing a bit of Suikoden 2 recently, and I played and loved 4 and 5 years ago. I love the basic setup of the series so ****ing much.
