You see, it was first 100% all music videos, and it wasn't until the early 90's that they started creating little tv shows that played different ones, which quickly lead to shows that had nothing to do with music until MTV was all tv shows that really had nothing to do with music.

So though people still watched MTV, it really was already dead and no longer what anyone wanted, because it no longer was playing all music videos like it was meant to do.
