Lol Russian Communism was a corrupt sham with an unsustainable society. As bad as it is now, it was even worse back then. There are no incentives in a "pure" Communist society to innovate because there's no competition. People assume government does what it's supposed to do in a non-capitalist context (since there's no way inequality would ever arise in these "perfect" societies right?111), but that's never held true even in today's longest running socialist societies.

Capitalism would honestly be perfect here in the U.S. if green energy and other, more sustainable industries based around newer advances in biotech continue to gain ground and cost effectiveness. But those technologies would have never emerged in the U.S. if we were something other than a capitalist society. Many of the things you cite above in regards to government innovation here in the U.S. are based on what I'm talking about.

Real innovation these days is done between universities, private investment and ingenuity birthed from people working together outside the red tape of bureaucracy.
