Not saying Dream Theater don't have their fair share of meh material, but c'mon. If Images & Words was really that bad it wouldn't continue to be appreciated by new audiences decades after its release. It stood out from the crowd and balanced the technical wankery with some good hooks and emotional songwriting. Critical opinion on DT's early period is pretty much uniform on these points, one that I'm in agreement with.

OMG that's disgusting and degrading. Or it would be if I gave a **** about "March Metal Madness" or whatever the ****. There's DT that I actually like, and I've tried to like
Images and Words, but it's just one of the most ill-conceived, tedious, and pointless albums ever. I can't even hate it because it's just so dull. It'll have flashes of something that's alright or something, and then just transition into the most cringey, annoying bull**** the next.
