Well ok maybe I'm being a bit simplistic about it. It is a horror movie and it relied more and more on familiar horror tropes and horror movie violence the further the movie went along. I'd like a completely different type of movie to do something more interesting with a similar premise. It is an unconventional movie, but ultimately felt like it relied on things I don't care about.

I just don't enjoy all of the violence, gore and that focus on building an atmosphere of dread and creepiness. It's the bread and butter of horror movies, but completely wasted on me. So, if a horror movie is to have a chance of appealing to me, it will have to primarily focus on something else. Characters, most of all. Creative sets, good cinematography, a good soundtrack... Things that usually aren't priority number 1 (or 2, or 3) for horror movies.
