deftones and system of a down amongst a few others were the bands that got me into metal and therefore i think i'll always just have a soft spot for them. could be nostalgia or some **** i guess, but i just think deftones do a great job creating some really cool atmospheres within their songs. they're literally the only band i can think of that actually managed to do some cool things with the nu-metal concept, but that's also because for the most part they stayed far the **** away from corny white man rapping.
It most certainly is nostalgia, but Mushroomhead does well.
