do you still have a soft spot for the bands/artists that got you into punk??

deftones and system of a down amongst a few others were the bands that got me into metal and therefore i think i'll always just have a soft spot for them. could be nostalgia or some **** i guess, but i just think deftones do a great job creating some really cool atmospheres within their songs. they're literally the only band i can think of that actually managed to do some cool things with the nu-metal concept, but that's also because for the most part they stayed far the **** away from corny white man rapping.

It most certainly is nostalgia, but Mushroomhead does well.

I usually toss your weak arguments after rolling my eyes at them. What exactly did you say that contradicts that? Hopefully not the metal being popular bit, because we both know I was talking about metal not being stylistically poppy enough for you.

Yeah but you know nothing about metal and we all laugh at your ignorant opinions. It's like when someone who just listens to rap thinks that rock music is all screaming and randomly making noise.

Puhleeeeez like punk doesn't have the most contrived bands in history. As far as more dissonant, hell no since both genres offer up heaping amounts of consonant and dissonant music. I'll chalk that up to a Dunning-Kruger.
