Look at the genre. They leaned more towards hardcore though with their behavior and sound. So you both were somewhat right, Ethan more however. EIMP a band's genre doesn't change over time if they have stopped recording. Just because they seem hardcore today means they were hardcore back then same with punk. Would you call The Ramones Prog today because they "seem prog"?
in a sense the type of music the genre can change. look at led Zeppelin.. they were Heavy Metal of the 70's and now considered to be Rock N' Roll, classic rock. well i'm sorry but as much as you think genres can't and don't change its very possible. and it has changed in this case to. Black Flag were punk of there day.. and clearly now considered to be hardcore. I stick to my opinions and no i'm not going to admit i'm wrong when i know i'm not.. so battle it out go ahead.. you'll be just making me copy this very post over and over.. haha
