This band released three records yesterday but I decided to focus on this one. As the name implies it’s an extension on the musical philosophies of John Cage. Not saying it’s in the same league but it could be a sequel to
John Cage Meets Sun Ra. Extremely sparse with long stretches of silence between the notes. Even though Sun Ra doesn’t often really sound like this if I had to stretch far enough to find roots in jazz I would say it’s in Sun Ra’s knowing when not to play. More firmly rooted in 20th C classical and specifically as stated John Cage.
