Song #5: Guided By Voices - Back to the Lake (2002)
Previous songs so far have been from the 80s/90s, so this is ten years more modern, although ironically, it sounds to me as if it could have come from the 70s.
This is a well-crafted pop/rock song built up from a strong, gets-under-your-skin riff which makes it very catchy. I liked it for the two listens I've given it, but tbh (as with pop/rock from the 70s) I don't think it would maintain my interest for long.
