I’m not any kind of expert on France but I’ve been there. And maybe I’m the kind of person who sees what he wants to see. But I think in France, greed is generally frowned upon as uncouth. Synonymous with gluttony. Even with their creamy food they’re disgusted by our diet and our fat bodies. In Korea and Japan hard work is honored but they don’t equate it
necessarily with wealth. The uniquely American national narrative that hard work equals wealth and therefore wealth is always well-deserved is amped up so far that it has become a celebration of greed. Every country is plagued with greed but American greed is the undisputed heavyweight champion. Therefore, as leftists, progressives, socialists, anarchists, whatever the **** we are, when there’s a profit motive where there shouldn’t be like in medicine and prisons and education, as Americans we have to be absolutely exhaustive when making sure there’s not a single ember from the profit motive left when we destroy these institutions because the insane wildfires of capitalism will rise again unless it’s totally ****ing decimated.
