As the struggle to resist China’s tightening grip on the semiautonomous region has intensified, protesters have appealed to the United States in larger numbers and with greater urgency. Last weekend, tens of thousands of protesters marched near the U.S. consulate in the territory, singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” and carrying signs that urged President Donald Trump to “liberate Hong Kong.” Perhaps more realistically, they also issued a practical plea: for Congress to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, which would grant the United States further means to defend the territory’s freedoms and autonomy.
If that doesn’t repulse you, and this is to everyone, not frown in particular, if this doesn’t repulse you you’re in complete denial about what a horrible negative force America is in the world. And on top of that, **** these protestors for trying to draw America into more direct conflict with another major nuclear power. And this myth that America is a beacon of hope is one of the most harmful misconceptions on the globe. The sympathy posters here have to the idea that America compares favorably to China demonstrates how deep the brainwashing runs. America should be seen for what it really is: an oppressive force of globalized evil.
