One of the mindfulness techniques I learned in DBT was a practice in ranking whether the decisions you've made over the past day or week have moved you toward or away from your ultimate goals. Even if your goals are just to make it through the next 24 hours, there's value in thinking of it as a tangible cause-and-effect grid. There is no use judging where you are or what you've done, all you can do is focus on right now and what you're going to do next.
