I mean, sure, that's one way to look at it. But we broke off from Great Britain in an effort to reform ourselves, didn't we? We didn't want to be tied to their whim. And this voting restriction, as you pointed out, was "initial", we've since reformed and corrected for those restrictions.

I will grant that wealthy elites and corporations have much more power, especially in regards to lobbying, than they should. They're not looking out for anyone's interests but their own (and their shareholders).
