So maybe the lack of air support is an inevitable result of the ceasefire but even so that helped lead to the rapid resurgence of the Taliban which, just from a surface level pov, it does not appear that we were at all prepared for.

I'd be surprised if there weren't any humanitarian or military tweaks we could have made, but how do you make plans that account for a country's immediate collapse that don't involve a time machine set to Sept. 12, 2001? It's kind of late in the game for duct tape and spit polishing.
