Joe Henderson - The Elements
Year: 1974

It was hard to figure out which Joe Henderson album to include, as a big hard bop fan I could have turned to Page One or Inner Urge. But the ultimately The Elements with it's fusion and spiritual landscape helped on by Alice Coltrane makes this an incredibly easy listen. What I love about Jazz is that you can sit back with a nice Whisky and absorb every note, or alternatively pop it on and just have it lay a background to your otherwise occupied thoughts. The Elements is great at both, but the first listen deserves your full attention.

3 Choice Tracks: There's four.
