A little update on my efforts:
My job search hit a dead end when every remote position I applied to had hundreds of national applicants. I can't compete with that.
So I challenged my social anxiety and started looking at local businesses where I might thrive.
I delivered a cover letter and resume to the founder of the region's largest antiquarian bookstore. He had hosted my first music lecture back in 2013 and he remembered me. He doesn't need anyone right now but I'll keep trying.
Tonight I reached out to the owner of 4 local record stores asking if he needs any help.
Even if these don't yield a direct job result, they are important efforts I'm making to overcome my social anxiety. So just sending out the message is a win. Who knows, maybe he'll need me in the weeks ahead. (Could you imagine ISB working in an indie record shop?)
I'll keep trying, but I'm running out of steam. This is really challenging.
