On the radio (on thanksgiving) Edith Bowman was going on about Thanksgiving and about how she thought that it was a lovely national holiday which the British should adopt.
I was in the lab and I actually started hurling abuse at the radio at that point. Thanksgiving is just an American version of the harvest festivals that we celebrate here. Its specific to America because it stems from when the pilgrims went over to America and had a difficult first few years (so they were extra thankful for each harvest). So why she thought we should have it when:
A: We're not American.
B: We already have harvest festival.
Is beyond me and I don't know why, on the country's second most popular radio station, nobody stopped her while a song was playing and told her she was making an ass of herself.
