Every band IVE heard has been pretentious. I don't care if its technical, I listen to some technical music but I think it all sounds technical just for the sake of it. But what about Radiohead? They're a prog band that isn't technical, and I struggle to see how they would sound technical as well. So that invalidates your post. That is... unless you haven't heard Radiohead.

In which case, you've heard a TINY amount of prog and shouldn't be flouting an opinion on it anyway.
