Listen to the entire album of Everything Goes Numb, while reading the lyrics (perhaps the most amazing lyrics ever created) because the album is truely amazing in every way. Their second album (Somewhere in the Between) is solid but nowhere near how good as their debut so I suggest waiting before you listen to that one.
I appreciate what you are saying but personally I prefer my Ska and Reggae without bells and whistles. That's what makes it so distinctive to other genres and probably what hampers it's appeal. I know I am being a dinosaur about this definitely. Generally I'm all for diversity and musical evolution, however there are a few things that I hate to see change.
